Last week, new studio Vela Games announced beta sign-ups were open for its debut project. Codenamed Project-V, it’s touted as a ‘MOCO’ – that is, a multiplayer online co-op game. It’s part PvP, part PvE, with a sci-fi fantasy setting and an evolving narrative that’ll build over time.
Project-V is part PVP, part PVE and the developers are aiming to make a game that appeals to both players that crave competitive play, and those of you that want to have a more relaxed time with friends.
We talk to Vela Games about how its vision for building up a studio was shaken up by the pandemic, and what it means for the “meaningful” co-op experience it’s creating.
The game is set in a science-fantasy universe and will combine MMO raid like play with the teamplay of a MOBA – something the team is calling MOCO (multiplayer online co-op).
Vela Games, a new game studio in Ireland the former Riot Games and Electronic Arts workers founded, has raised $3.1 million to make what it terms “player-first” multiplayer co-op games.
